about

The corporate monkey on your back and the urgent need to escape it, courtesy of time and age...

lyrics

Twisting down a dark alleyway where the beast had buried the seed
Jump down a crack in the pavement, land on the tree where the devil feeds
Climb the branches like a ladder to get to where you need to be
Don't forget to pick the fruit, if you want to peak you will have to eat

You're not old
But you don't know
Where Time Goes
In this slice of life you carved from the world

Your lips are wet with tropical fruit that you can only get from Beelzebub
Bloodshot eyes, a flask full of rye, keep you warm in the midnight sun
Cherries in the mirror rain on the glass, pump the gas and release the clutch
Out the corner of your eye a Chevy screams by, runs the light and avoids the cops

You're not mad
Taxicabs
And lights and rats
If you're happy and you know it then clap your hands!

"To create positive energy greet your co-workers with a 'good morning' and smile as you rip off the public
Throw money at street kids and battered women.
It's a sizeable write-off and the old boys live to fight another day."

Pull up on a downtown corner she winks at you in the car
You can afford the two hundred dollars and a suite on the 13th floor
Down below a red corvette drop-top starts honking the horn
Did she paint her lips? Is that blood on her chin? Close your eyes, it'll be all over

You're not old
But you don't know
Where time goes
In this slice of life you've carved from the world

We sit in our cars controlled by lights
Bound by digits and paychecks that don't seem right
I passed the weekend just to wake up with dreams of Friday night
I put my best hat on and step into the light

PULL UP ON A DOWNTOWN CORNER
Streets and tramps
All shake their ass
If you're happy and you know it then clap your hands!

We sit in our cars controlled by lights
Bound by digits and paychecks that don't seem right
I passed the weekend just to wake up with dreams of Friday night
I put my best hat on and step into the light
